Cross-Border Ecommerce is a specific legal framework enabling brands to sell directly to Chinese consumers, without intermediaries. It’s a more profitable (no middlemen) and scalable model (no product registration, can adapt portfolio in just a few clicks, can test products very easily).
Cross-Border Ecommerce (CBEC) is the only way for cruelty-free brands to enter China. Brands going for CBEC do not need to do animal testing.
Chinese consumers purchasing on Tmall Global, the CBEC platform, expect the products to arrive as they would buy them in the brand’s home country. Therefore, there is no need to change the packaging. Products are extensively covered and described digitally, on the different Chinese social media accounts of the brand.
CBEC does not require product registration. The brand can add / remove / test new SKUs very easily.
It takes around 6 months for an unknown brand to gain sufficient brand awareness to start selling in China. Therefore, we start operating the Tmall Global store 4-6 months after we started to build the brand community in China (Phase 1 scope).
We do not buy inventory. Your inventory is stored in a bonded warehouse of Tmall Global, in China. The product is shipped directly from the bonded warehouse to the Chinese consumer once the order from the end-consumer is placed.
